Music - Choir and Recorders

Music at Normandy

Recorder Clubs (Intermediate and Beginners):

These run for KS2 pupils who wish to learn the recorder. The beginner group is on a Wednesday after school 3.20-4.00 and the intermediate group takes place on a Wednesday lunchtime 12.40-1.10. The children enjoy learning a new skill together and make progress quickly. Our intermediate group took part in our Christmas performances at Fossett Lodge, Bexleyheath Broadway (fundraising for Demelza Children's Hospice) and in our school Christmas concert:

KS2 Choir:

This is open to pupils in years 4-6 and takes place on a Monday lunchtime 12.40-1.15 with Mrs Lowe and Mrs Gurnett. We do several events per year. Christmas events include a trip to sing at our local senior citizens' sheltered accommodation, Fossett Lodge and a Carolathon in Bexleyheath Broadway to raise funds for the Demelza Children's Hospice.

We perform a school concert at Christmas and in the summer

and we visit the O2 arena with many other schools to participate in the international 'Young Voices' event.

We have an annual visit from a local music company who teach the keyboard, Soundsteps. They often visit in the New Year and some children sign up for keyboard lessons on a Saturday morning with them at a local venue.

Last year KS1 and KS2 attended the 'Bright Sparks' concert at the Royal Festival Hall on the South Bank with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

If your child is interested in joining the school choir or learning the recorder, please ask Mrs Gurnett for more information.

Normandy School Choir rocked it at the O2 Arena this week, performing as part of a massed choir for the Young Voices Concert. Mrs Gurnett (Choir Teacher) took 96 members of the choir to the concert and what a concert it was too. The children  performed brilliantly. Their behaviour was excellent and they were a real credit to  parents and to Normandy  Primary School.
