Year 6 - WWII Evacuees
Our Year 6 children went back in time to the Second World War and spent the day as evacuees. They learnt about life during the war and what life was like for children who were evacuated during this period. Alf and Bunty from 'Portals to the Past', provided a vivid and memorable experience of life in Britain during WWII. The children learnt about Home Guard drill, ARP training and they had the opportunity to explore an evacuee's suitcase. Our Year 6 children were lucky enough to be able to see genuine WWII artefacts, utility clothing and learn about civilian occupations. They even saw a real air raid siren. This was followed by a WWII quiz which the children really enjoyed. This exciting day culminated with a good old war time sing-along to keep up the British spirit!
