National Poetry Day

We celebrated National Poetry Day's 25th anniversary on Thursday this week with children taking part in various fun-filled activities based around poetry. Children and teachers shared their favourite poems during special assemblies. They also enjoyed listening to and studying and performing poems written by some of their favourite authors. Lots of children wrote their own poems using different features they had been learning about in the week. I was particularly impressed watching some incredible teaching and learning in Years 5, where they were comparing a range of poems of differing styles and themes. Please ask your child all about the poets they have learnt about. It was such a joy to see so many children so excited about poetry this week!
